Welcome to Samarthya
Disabilities Programme, a dedicated initiative by Samarthya Trust to empower
Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and their Carers. Established in 2013,
Samarthya Trust, meaning 'Potential,' is committed to reducing the incidence of
disability and ensuring that PWDs achieve their individual potential, leading
independent and meaningful lives.
Our Reach
Samarthya currently operates
across the Kalyana Karnataka region, with three centers located in the
districts of Koppal and Raichur. Our outreach extends to PWDs from Vijayanagar
and Kalburgi districts in Karnataka.

Our vision is to improve the
quality of life of PWDs and their Carers, fostering an inclusive society where
everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.
Mission
At Samarthya Disabilities
Programme, our mission is to enable PWDs and Carers through Community-Based
Rehabilitation and Services to access any and all opportunities. We are
dedicated to providing comprehensive support to ensure the holistic development
and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
Objectives
1. Early Identification and Rehabilitation: We are committed to early identification, prevention,
treatment, and rehabilitation of PWDs to enhance their quality of life.
2. Therapeutic Services: Our
therapeutic services aim to provide PWDs with the necessary skills and support
to lead independent lives, focusing on physical, emotional, and social
well-being.
3. Aids & Appliances:
Samarthya provides aids and appliances to enhance the functional ability of
PWDs, enabling them to navigate their environment with greater ease and
independence.
4. Vocational Training and Employment: We offer vocational skills training and placement services to
empower PWDs and Caregivers with the skills and opportunities for economic
independence and self-sustainability.
5. Empowerment and Advocacy:
Samarthya empowers Federations of PWDs and their Carers, amplifying their
voices to demand their constitutional rights and access to essential services
and support.
6. Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation:
Through the Naandi Social Rehabilitation Centre (NSRC), we provide
comprehensive rehabilitation services for Persons with Spinal Cord Injuries,
focusing on physical and emotional well-being, independence, and community
integration.
7. Inclusive Education: We
promote inclusive education for Deaf Children ensuring equal access to
education and opportunities for all.
8. Advocacy and Networking:
Samarthya actively networks, lobbies, and advocates for an inclusive society,
working towards removing barriers and promoting equal rights and opportunities
for PWDs.

Assessment and Follow-up
Clinics: Providing clinical support, referrals,
treatment, counseling, and follow-up services.

Early Intervention for Children
with Disabilities: Screening, identification,
treatment, therapy, and functional skill training for children with
disabilities.

Inclusive Education Support: Providing support for mobility, communication, sign language,
and adaptations in educational settings.

Aids & Appliances
Distribution: Supplying hearing aids,
artificial limbs, wheelchairs, tricycles, and other assistive devices to
enhance mobility and independence.

Home Modification: Adapting homes with modifications such as railings, ramps, and
accessible facilities to promote independence and accessibility for PWDs.

Spinal Cord Injury
Rehabilitation Services: Comprehensive rehabilitation
services for Persons with Spinal Cord Injuries, including counseling,
physiotherapy, training in independent living skills, and aids and appliances.

Residential Camps: Residential camps for children with disabilities, focusing on
skill development, education, and social integration.
·
Home-Based Therapeutic Services: Providing therapeutic services and support to PWDs in the
comfort of their homes, including deaf children, Persons with Spinal Cord
Injuries, and those with mental challenges.

Vocational Training and
Employment Support: Offering vocational skills
training in tailoring, crafts, and other fields, with placement services for
women with disabilities and Carers.

Carer Support Groups: Formation of support groups for Carers, offering counseling,
skills training, and support to ensure sustainable care for PWDs.
·
Support Groups: Facilitating associations for PWDs and Carers at the
Taluk/district level, promoting advocacy, empowerment, and social integration.
