We run vocational training programmes that ensure People with Disabilities can lead independent lives and support their families.
We had 18 trainees in our horticulture training programme in 2014-15. In addition to their course on horticulture, they were provided with calipers, wheelchairs and other appliances as required. The trainees also attended the Agricultural Mela organised by Dharwad Agriculture University as an exposure-visit. Currently seven of the trainees have been placed at jobs.
In our tailoring course we teach tailoring skills to women with disabilities and caregivers living in vulnerable conditions. In addition, the women are given sewing machines, so they are enabled to earn money and run their homes independently. Refresher courses are also conducted for our previous trainees by our resource persons.
